Episode question

Did radios work on the Kid planet with the shield up? I know that it was down most of the episode and they used radios but I can't recall if they worked while the shield was up. Everything else electronic was down so I'm not sure about the radios???

That was my imagery as well, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the second opinion. :)
