My apologies to any writer I've begged, pleaded and groveled to for more of a story. I didn't realize that was bad form. My bad.

I'm a little confused about how to respond to fic that I like. I'm not a writer and when I write something that I like, I usually don't want to take 20 minutes and type out a reasonable response. I usually just type a quick message saying that I dig their story. Some writers complain when they get these quick messages. Sometimes, I don't write anything for fear of this.
I don't know what to do. I thing most people are trying to be supportive to stories they found great. I've only left negative feedback once when I thought that the writer went a little too far in her story.
Fandom wank like this makes me feel like I'm walking on eggshells when reading fic. It also makes me less likely to want to respond. I guess I'll add not to ask for more to that list. *sigh*

I don't leave expanded feedback. I'm not good at it. I generally say I love it and try to pick something out of the story that really worked for me. Other than that, I'm clueless on the feedback thing.

Bottom line for me is 1) I'm not leaving LJ 2) I'm gonna keep reading fanfic, 3) I will respond how I deem appropriate and if they complain that their feedback is too general, I will stop reading their work. What else can you do? I'm not gonna hold someone's hand on line, but I do get enjoyment from this place and I'll still be here, annoying people with my obsession with Rodney =)

Yeah, I'm not leaving LJ either and I'll read what fic I can find.
